JOHN STILES OF LONDON
In Volume 1 of Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World (1976 edition) John Stiles is shown as being apprenticed in 1697 and then between 1704 and 1727 of the Clockmakers Company.
This fine clock is housed in a simple but elegant and well proportioned oak case with a rich patina.
The high quality 5 pillar movement is in excellent condition having been professionally restored and serviced. The fine dial has been cleaned and resilvered, and the original hands are particularly well made.
