A James Miller is listed as working in Perth between 1845 and 1848 in “Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World Vol.2” by Brian Loomes, and this is most likely the maker of this clock. The painted dial has an interesting depiction of the escape of Mary Queen of Scott’s from Loch Leven Castle, showing the men who helped her escape, George Douglas, Lord Seton, Lord Herries and Lord Fleming in the corners.
