WILLIAM KIPLING of LONDON

William Kipling is recorded in Britten’s “Old Clocks & Watches” as working in Broad Street between 1705 and 1737, and is recorded as still working in 1750. This clock dates to about 1740, towards the end of his career, and is a fine example of his work. The 5 pillar countwheel striking movement is of high quality, and has been expertly restored. The pendulum has an unusually shaped brass rod, and fine brass covered lead bob with engraved rating nut. The mahogany case is finely made, and elegantly proportioned.
