THOMAS BRODERICK OF SPALDING 8 DAY LONGCASE CLOCK by THOMAS BRODERICK of SPALDING c1800
This attractive oak cased longcase clock was made by a member of the Broderick family of Lincolnshire which produced a number of fine clockmakers in the 18th century and early 19th century. Thomas is listed in “Lincolnshire Clock, Watch and Barometer Makers” by A S H Wilbourn and R Ellis on p23 as working from 1791 until about 1831. This interesting example of his work is housed in a relatively simple oak case, and has a very attractively painted square dial and its original steel hands. The brass 8 day movement has inside pinwheel striking, with pull repeat lever fitted. The movement has been professionally restored, and is in perfect working order.
